About The Pastor
Rev. Rebekah Shuford Ralph was born and raised a United Methodist, and also a “PK,” Preacher’s Kid. She was born in Shelby, NC, baptized at Sulphur Springs UMC. Rebekah graduated from Tuscola High School in Waynesville, NC in 2005. After high school, she attended Asheville Buncombe Technical Community College and received an Associates Degree in Hotel and Restaurant Management, after working for Marriott for 3 years, she realized it was not the life she was called to live out. Rebekah decided to go back to school to pursue Elementary Education, but came to the conclusion that was not for her either. In 2009, Rebekah ventured on the Scandinavian Caravan. This is a culture exchange trip between the Western North Carolina Conference and the Northern European Conference where we visited churches and shared in our faith and cultures. It was in Norrköping, Sweden that Rebekah accepted her call to ministry. Upon returning home, she called Pfeiffer University and switched her major to Religion, she graduated in 2011. In the fall of 2011, she entered Duke Divinity School and there she was a Thriving Rural Community Initiative Student, where her focus was ministry in the rural church. In 2014, she graduated and was appointed to First UMC Lawndale and Kistler’s UMCs. She served these churches for three years before being appointed to Mitchell’s Chapel UMC. Also in 2014, she met her “to be” Robert Ralph and they were married June 27, 2015. Together, they enjoy cycling, board games, and being goofy. Rebekah is currently a Provisional Member of the Western North Carolina Annual Conference, she plans on going before the Board of Ordained Ministry in February to seek her Full Connection ordination.
Rebekah’s preaching style is high theology with everyday lessons for life and faith. She lives her life by the Great Commandment, love God with all your heart, mind, soul, and self, and love neighbor as yourself. Her ministry focuses on the same principles and mission work that shares the Gospel with all the world.
